Here’s to my new website! It’s only taken me about ten years to get around to doing it (and I should be painting a commission).
The painting was done last year when painting en plein air with my mothers art group. We were in the grounds of a private residence so I can’t give you the location, but they have a gorgeous property and extensive gardens. The lady of the hall was mortified that so many of us chose to paint her allegedly messy barn. I wish my studio was that tidy.
The image itself was done mainly using palette knives in oil paint on a 16 x 20 inch box canvas. I am proud of how I have managed to capture the light and the straight edges of the barn – something that was a struggle as I hadn’t taken a ruler.
Please let me know if you love en plein air painting as much as I do. Am I the only one that has discovered how oil paint reacts in a downpour?
